I have an obsession with anime girls. They speak to my soul.
Anime are Japanese cartoons and illustrations, the word is actually the Japanese abbreviated version of the word “Animation.”
“If I had a world of my own,” said Alice, “everything would be nonsense!”
Generally, the most common form of anime drawings include “exaggerated physical features such as large eyes, big hair and elongated limbs.”
This haunted girl appears like a whispery ghost. Something about the style of these images just totally works for me. The large eyes are said to be influenced by American characters such as Bambi and Betty Boop.
They’re beautiful to look at, maybe it’s the big eyes that get me, there’s something about them that seems so lovely and sad.
They seem haunted by a memory, almost. This girl looks like she’s running away from something. But what? Who? Wait, I just noticed angel wings on her back…is she a fallen angel?…
Hmmm. This one reminds me so much of the art of the 1970′s, when I was a child. But look, is that blood on her dress? Is she an emotional cutter? What is going on?
They seem to be telling a story, this young woman seems to be waiting for someone who may never come.
This one is lovely, the first thought that comes to mind is that she’s drowning, but no…she looks peaceful. It somehow makes me feel calm.
And this is one of my favorites, because this is how I feel in my life today.
Climbing, stretching, trying to reach higher…
Even though the night sky seems dark sometimes, this image is full of hope.
She is going to do the impossible, she is not only reaching for the stars, she is adding one of her own to the sky.
She is putting the light back where it belongs.
Do you have any cartoons, art or illustrations that speak to you?
My first crush as a child was the cartoon Speed Racer, who now that I research it, is an anime boy.
Who looks a little bit like my husband! Gah.
This is probably all a sign that I need to grow up.
Love,

While I am not familiar with current Anime shows, etc, I LOVE the anime art style, all of it. My husband may have considered himself an otaku (modern, urban dictionary definition, not technical, computer skill definition) at one point. He might not admit it now, but he totally was
Very fascinating, and yes, very emotional, art style. It’s quite lovely.
