Remember when I complained about going to the department store makeup counter with the sad egg pan burn on my hand? Well, it was embarrassing but worth it, I’m currently smitten with the new little items I purchased.
Like I mentioned, I buy and love a lot of awesome drugstore cosmetics (read about a few of my Best Drugstore Beauty Finds by clicking here).
A lot of times I truly think they’re just as good as the more expensive brands- and often made by the exact same companies, shhhh.
However, I rarely get a massage and I don’t like facials because in my experience, they try to sell you tons of pricey products and leave marks on your face. It’s not relaxing, to me, anyway. I usually do my own mani- pedis- poorly- so sometimes it’s nice to splurge on something special.
I think you’ll be able to tell this post is not sponsored by these marvelous companies when I begin by saying that the first time I tried this eyeliner, I looked like I came from the red light Mommy district, Amsterdam.
I read about this in In Style Magazine from my dear friend Katy Perry (puss puss or kiss kiss) and I think the one she uses is not waterproof, but I can’t be sure because I’m a weeper. Hold on a sec.
I’m better now. It turns out I had a heavy hand because the second time I tried it before I had applied mascara and Voila! I really like it, it’s a dark line but sort of leaves that sexy, retro Bridgette Bardot eye.
Katy also said in In Style mag that she likes this brand of concealer, Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage. I got the lightest shade they make, SC-2.
You mix the two tones together before applying it with a brush, but I think your finger or a sponge would be fine.
I think it’s nice and gives good coverage. I even like it under the eyes after applying moisturizing sunscreen first (I use Oil of Olay 15 and 30, Sensitive Skin).
Now for the shimmer.
This product called High Beam I found myself while browsing the Sephora store in the mall. Sephora has samples of everything out for you to try.
It’s a very pretty “luminescent complexion enhancer.” It’s sort of light peachy pink in tone with subtle shimmer in it, and you dot it over your makeup on to your cheek and brow bones for a healthy glow. I put it on before any powder or bronzing dust.
It’s a lot easier than actually being healthy. Heh-heh.
Last but not least, I found a special eyeshadow called Wedding Day #24 by Sephora brand in their store.
It’s kind of white/off white/light silvery and it has the loveliest pop of sparkle I’ve ever seen in a shadow when it hits the light.
Much like Edward in Twilight but ya know, more feminine.
Shimmer work it, girl!
Some kind of fun news: Girl to Mom has been online Live! for less than 6 months and just passed 100,000 page views.
Thank you for reading, my friends.
