Project: Lose Twenty Pounds!

Healthy Diet Foods

…AND get super glowingly happy and healthy! I’m treating my mind, body and spirit right now, because I abused it enough for a lifetime, y’all.

These are some of the foods I’m starting with (pictured above). Yesterday was sort of the first day, but I ate too much ice cream last night, so I’m going to officially start my diet today. (I hear ya, Richard Simmons, diet has the word “die” in it, but it’s still the word I relate to losing weight.)

And Davy Jones of The Monkees, may he Rest In Peace, died of a heart attack, so it’s not just about getting lean, healthy hearts are a top priority.

So! What is my plan? Well as some of you know, I’ve made a couple…maybe even a handful…of false starts on this losing the baby weight five years later road, but it’s not how many cheesy poofs you scarfed, it’s how you get back off the mat, baby!

Kombucha tea images

Have you tried Kombucha tea? I'm obsessed with it.

I’m aware that I should love myself just the way I am, and I do. My body is just my Earth Suit that my spirit temporarily dwells in.

But my natural weight is not 150 pounds, that weight has stayed there because I was dangerously binging on food and alcohol. In other words, it’s negative weight that is weighing me down emotionally, and it GOTS TO GO, GIRLLLL!!! (And guys. I know you’re out there xx.)

Kombucha tea (pictured) is a bit pricey for a beverage, but it’s supposed to be extremely good for you and I love it right now. The taste may not be for everybody, I like the strawberry one. I was told it’s given to cancer patients, it has a lot of naturally occurring B vitamins, antioxidants and probiotics.

No caffeine, it’s fizzy and fun. Only 60 calories for a large bottle that has 2 servings (so 30 calories per serving). I buy it at Whole Foods or Pavilions grocery store.

I’m very excited about getting started! The Girl To Mom Diet (As I’ve oh-so-modestly named it) is not exactly like any other plan I’ve ever followed, because most of them are too extreme for me. It’s essentially very healthy foods with maximum nutritional value, high in protein and fiber and low in carbs.

It’s not a no carb diet, because if I give up all sugar (especially frozen yogurt and ice cream) I will probably get depressed and axe murder somebody. Salt is not limited, because I don’t have high blood pressure anymore (I did when I was drinking- I’m lucky I didn’t stroke out).

I eat at least 5 times a day and I’m aiming for about 1,900 to 2,000 calories per day, which I need to not feel so hungry I’ll eat your purse. Or John Stamos’ face. It looks yummy. LICK!

Beach and pool season is just a few months away…

It’ll be easy. This morning I had a slice of reduced fat swiss cheese, coffee with creamer, and a 100 calorie pack of almonds and walnuts. About 250 calories total.

As a later morning snack (I’m up at 6) I had another coffee with creamer and three slices of deli chicken with hummus. I used a lot of hummus and wrapped the the slices around it in rolls. Yum! About 350 calories, including the coffee.

Updated: Snack of wild smoked salmon and goat cheese with lemon squeezed on it. I know, that sounds weird, but the fish was not fishy and the goat was not goaty, it tasted more like salmon and cream cheese. 150 calories.

1/2 bottle of gingerberry Kombucha tea: 30 calories.

4-5 ounces organic carrot juice: approx. 50 calories.

Snack: A few slices deli chicken breast with hot queso cheese dip: 150 calories.

4pm Snack: Fage Greek yogurt, nonfat plain with packet of Splenda: 100 calories.

Salad of 1/2 an organic red pepper and a cup of baby romaine lettuce, with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and aged balsamic vinegar.

Roughly 1,175 calories so far.

Snack: Almonds, 100 calorie pack.

Mint Green tea, calories 0.

Cake pop, 180 calories.

Small piece of coconut cake, 200 calories.

Dreyers individual cup of caramel swirl ice cream, 190 calories.

Grant total: About 1,850 for the day.

Not bad. It’s the cake and ice cream diet!

And away we go!

peachesXOXO-

Good luck on your journey. I have to eat 1600 calories a day just to maintain my chunk. Damn you metabolism! Haha.

I LOVE Fage yogurt. I eat yogurt with flax seed every weekday morning. Super yum and less than 200 calories.

You’ve totally got this. I look forward to hearing about your progress. Do this thing lady!

I love Fage yogurt, too! Flax seed, you are going straight to heaven. I have been so piggy, I’ve been eating around 2,300-2,400 calories a day! It has to stop. Oh the madness.

  2. You’ve encouraged me! I did the hcg diet and lost 25 pounds, but then gained half of it back over the past few months. So, next week I’m diving back in to get healthy. I totally understand the need to rid the negative weight- I want to do that, too! Thanks for inspiring me and I know that you’ll do great!

(Thanks for the shout out! You rock!)

Good luck! I went on a weight loss journey almost 4 years ago.
I lost a LOT of weight, and then I became preggers with my precious little bug.

To this day I have lost all of my baby weight and then some! 172 lbs. In all
    :)

Good luck to you! You can do it if you truly stick with it!

(the weight started rolling off once I quit drinking!)
