Yesterday I was shopping for an outfit for Bex to wear for Civil Servant Day at his preschool this week, honoring our doctors, firefighters, mail carriers, teachers, construction and sanitation workers, etc.
It nearly made me wish I hadn’t thrown out that green plastic toy garbage can that Bex used to pour his milk and snack foods in, clearly attempting to compost them overnight and be an environmentally correct child.
While strolling the aisles, I came upon the tattooed baby doll pictured above: Tattoodles: Princess Surprise. Gah. Well, it’s a surprise alright, this baby doll has tattoos on her belly, upper arms and on her FACE!
In real life I haven’t seen too many females with tattoos on their faces outside of that stripper who cheated with Jesse James on sweet, beautiful and talented actress Sandra Bullock.
I’m the Mom of a boy, but even if these are called “temporary tattoos,” is this really the doll you want to give to your little girl? Maybe if you want her to grow up to be Kat Von D, the tattoo artist who is yep, currently engaged to the same said Jesse James.
I’m not here to judge, but I’m Team Sandra all the way, yo.
Next I lucked upon this 1971 version of Malibu Barbie.
No one really used sunscreen in 1971, so I’m affectionately calling her “skin cancer Barbie.”
And do you know how in so many past popular movies, there would often be a scene where someone would spontaneously break out into song and dance around the house, using a hairbrush as a microphone?
Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the Rock n’ Style Microphone:
Yes, really. Real hairbrush! Real microphone! For your singing, brushing and listening pleasure. How did we ever live without this?
I really shop with the intention of bringing joy to billions. You’re welcome, world.
xxx- Heidi
