Children are the joy of the world.
I know this much is true, and anyone who would take their light from the Earth is mentally ill. Mentally ill people should not have access to guns.
I believe there is no question we should have the right to bear arms in America, but we must keep weapons out of the hands of the evil and the unstable, no matter how strict the gun laws must be to accomplish this.
Updated: I certainly don’t want to demonize the mentally ill, they are (of course) not all prone to violence. It’s true as many have stated today, those with mental illness need better help and more resources in our society in general. This is a huge problem that needs to be addressed.
I am waiting to find out if an assault weapon was used by this unwell person, but if so, why do average citizens have the right to own an assault weapon? I understand active military needing to have these, but why would anyone else? I think they should be banned. A hand gun or regular rifle is just fine unless you are planning to commit mass murder.

My thoughts and prayers are with the people affected by this horrific tragedy in Connecticut today, my heart aches for them. I’ll be holding my own baby closer than ever in gratitude that I still can.

I work for the Department of Education so a ton of people were monitoring the story very closely this morning. I know a lot of tragic things have happened this year, but this one hit me like a punch in the stomach. I have been crying on and off all morning. 18 kindergarteners. Can you imagine what those parents are going through? I’m devastated and I didn’t even know the kids. Horrible.

I can’t imagine it. I would die. I would probably drink myself to death if I lost Bexon. It is beyond comprehension why someone would do this.
By the way, I’ not drinking of course and I won’t drink over this or anything else, I just don’t think I could survive if I lost my baby.
My gram outlived three of her children. They died in adulthood and it was still devastating. No one should have to watch their child pass before them. I think it’s one of the worst tragedies to have to bear.
